Off The Pavement?

David_Neils_2008

When I was a kid I’d tie string across game trails and then check them several days later just to see if something walked through the string. I was fascinated by the habits and movement of anything wild, even pine squirrels. Growing up in NW Montana we had plenty of fantastic predators roaming the woods, including grizzly bear, black bear, wolf, coyote, mountain lion, wolverine, badger, and others. Everytime I saw the string was cut or laying on the ground I knew some animal had walked by and I was thrilled at the thought of what it might be.

Forty Years Later..

About five years ago I met a trail camera expert from Michigan. I purchased my first trail camera from him, an Olympus D380 bulletproof unit that could withstand just about anything Mother Nature could throw at it. The first lion photo I captured was with this camera and the lion’s face was less than 8 inches from the lens. I was completely hooked at that point. This was a quantum leap forward from the days of using string.

Enjoy that next step….off the pavement.
